David James is a Scottish artist living in Ayrshire on the West Coast of Scotland. He works in a variety of mediums including graphite, ink, watercolour and coloured pencil.

David is best known for his highly detailed ink artworks of historic buildings and landmarks, including a recent series prepared of Glasgow landmarks and historical buildings.

As a self taught artist with a particular interest in creating artworks in a realism style. David has spent many hours perfecting his technique, learning with each new artwork produced and adapting his style to suit the subject.

The inspiration for David’s artwork comes from the Scottish landscapes, landmarks and architecture. His favourite medium is ink as it allows intricate details to be captured and gives a real sense of character when working on historic buildings and castles.

The photograph in the centre above was taken at the North Ayrshire Open Art Exhibition where David displayed his Turnberry Lighthouse ink artwork.
